FAQs

Can I file my taxes for free through Chime?

Yes, it’s 100% free to file your federal and state tax returns through Chime with no fees. Tax filing services are provided through our tax partner.

When are taxes due?

Taxes are typically due on April 15 each year, unless the date falls on a weekend or holiday. In those cases, the deadline may be extended. Filing on time helps you avoid penalties and interest.

How do I file a tax extension?

You can file a tax extension by submitting IRS Form 4868 before the tax deadline. An extension gives you extra time to file, but not extra time to pay. Any taxes owed must still be paid by the original due date.

When is tax day?

Tax Day is usually April 15 in the United States. If April 15 falls on a weekend or a federal holiday, the deadline may be shifted. The IRS announces the official date each year.

How long does it take to get a tax refund?

It typically takes up to 21 days to receive a tax refund after the IRS accepts your return. E-filing and choosing direct deposit can speed up the process. Paper returns may take significantly longer.
