January 29, 2021

When it comes to getting your tax refund, we know you want it fast. So that’s why when you file directly with the IRS and direct deposit with Chime, you can get your federal tax refund up to 3 days earlier¹!

And since we’re all about helping you achieve financial peace of mind— on top of getting your money early¹, you can also enter for a chance to win our $2,020 sweepstakes! Keep reading to find out how it works.

How do you know if you’re eligible?

In order to be eligible for an automatic entry, you need to have a Chime Spending Account. Then, simply receive a qualifying federal tax refund direct deposit (described in Official Rules) of $200.00 or more to your Chime Spending Account during an entry period. Entry periods run weekly during sweepstakes period.

The Entry Period during which the entrant’s qualifying direct deposit posts is considered the one (1) Entry Period for which there can be an Automatic Entry. Limit of one (1) Automatic Entry per entrant during the entire Sweepstakes Period.

How does it work?

All you have to do is receive your federal tax refund direct deposited to your Chime Spending Account by April 22nd and boom, you’re entered for a chance to win!

So, how can I receive my tax refund with Chime?

If you’re eligible to enter automatically, here’s how to set up a direct deposit in 3 easy steps:

  1. Find your Bank Routing number and Chime Spending Account number in the Chime app or download a pre-filled Direct Deposit form below.
  2. When you file tax return, choose “Direct Deposit” as the tax refund method and include the Bank Routing number and Chime Spending Account number
  3. Ha! There is no step 3. It’s that easy!

Alternate Method of Entry

Non-Chime members and existing Chime members may enter the 2020 Tax Refund Sweepstakes via the Alternate Method of Entry (“AMOE”). To qualify for an AMOE in any Drawing Period other than a Drawing Period during which the entrant qualified for an automatic entry, or in any Drawing Period if entrant does not qualify for an automatic entry, entrants must:

Fill out the online Alternate Method of Entry Form.

Limit of one (1) AMOE per entrant during all Entry Periods other than the Entry Period during which the entrant may have qualified for an Automatic Entry.

Review the Official Rules to learn more about how to enter the 2020 Tax Refund Sweepstakes, to see definitions of some of the terms used above, and to learn how to opt-out of participating in the automatic entry. By not opting out of automatic entry and/or submitting an AMOE, you agree to comply with the Official Rules.

¹Early access to direct deposit funds depends on the timing of the submission of the payment file from the payer. These funds are generally made available on the day the payment file is received, which may be up to 2 days earlier than the scheduled payment date. Federal tax payments may be received from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) three days before the scheduled payment date, meaning tax refunds potentially could be made available up to 3 days early.
