SpotMe® on Credit is an optional, no interest/no fee overdraft line of credit tied to the Secured Deposit Account. SpotMe on Debit is an optional, no fee service attached to your Chime Checking Account (individually or collectively, "SpotMe"). Eligibility for SpotMe requires $200 or more in qualifying direct deposits to your Chime Checking Account each month.

Qualifying members will be allowed to overdraw their Chime Checking Account and/or their Secured Deposit Account up to $20 in total, but may be later eligible for a higher combined limit of up to $200 or more based on member’s Chime account history, direct deposit frequency and amount, spending activity and other risk-based factors. Your SpotMe Limit will be displayed to you within the Chime mobile app. You will receive notice of any changes to your SpotMe Limit. SpotMe for Credit and SpotMe on Debit share a single SpotMe limit. Your SpotMe Limit may change at any time, at Chime or its banking partners’ discretion. Although there are no overdraft fees, there may be out-of-network or third-party fees associated with ATM transactions or OTC cash withdrawal fees at retailers. What is Chime Prime?

Chime Prime is Chime’s top membership tier that gives you the most rewarding way to bank fee-free.10 With Chime Prime, you get 5%cashback and premium travel perks with Chime Card,1 3.75% savings APY2 , and more. To qualify, direct deposit $3,000 or more within the preceding 34 days with Chime.

How do I get Chime Prime?

You qualify for Chime Prime when you direct deposit at least $3,000 every month with Chime.6 Once you reach at least $3,000 in qualifying direct deposits, you can start benefiting from your Chime Prime status without a subscription or manual upgrade. To make the most of your Chime Prime benefits, make sure to get a Chime Card so you can earn cash back on a category of choice and access all of the premium travel perks.

How do I get Chime Plus?

To get Chime Plus, you need to receive qualifying direct deposits of $400+ or a single monthly direct deposit of $200+ or more within the preceding 34 days.21 Once your deposit is processed, your Chime Plus status will activate automatically.

What premium travel perks do I get?

With both Chime Prime and Chime Card, you get access to a number of premium travel perks, including:

What cash back categories can I get with Chime Prime?

With Chime Prime, you can get access to 5% cash back with Chime Card1 on a category of your choice, like groceries, gas, monthly bills, restaurants, or travel.

Do I need to choose my cash back category each month?

Yes. Your cash back category will reset on the first day of each month. To earn cash back you’ll need to select one category at the start of each month in the Chime app. Your selection takes effect immediately and applies to purchases made after you select the category. Selections don’t carry over from the previous month.

Is it free to join Chime?

It is completely free to open an account at Chime but you unlock different membership tiers with more benefits when you make qualifying direct deposits. With monthly direct deposits of $400+ total or a single monthly direct deposit of $200+, you unlock Chime Plus. With a direct deposit of $3,000+, you unlock Chime Prime.

Does Chime charge fees for any tier?

No – there are no monthly, overdraft, or minimum balance fees for any tier. 

Can I choose my tier manually?

You can’t choose your tier manually. Chime’s memberships automatically adjust when you meet the direct deposit threshold.

How do new members get Chime Prime?

New members qualify the same way as existing members—just direct deposit at least $3,000 every month with Chime6 and you can start benefiting from your Chime Prime status automatically.

Is Chime Prime free?

Yes! Chime Prime is free. There are no monthly fees, no maintenance fees, and no minimum balance requirements. Make at least $3,000 in qualifying direct deposits every month6 and you’ll automatically get Chime Prime.

Can I lose my Chime Plus or Prime status?

Yes, if you stop meeting the direct deposit requirements, your Chime account reverts to the previous tier after a grace period. But the good news is you can re-qualify anytime. 

What makes Chime Prime different from Chime Plus?

Chime Prime includes everything in Chime Plus with more rewards and benefits including more cash back with Chime Card, a higher Savings APY, and premium travel perks with Chime Card.

Will I get a different card for Chime Prime?

Yes, Chime Prime members will be eligible for a premium metal card. You can choose the onyx Chime Card for free, or upgrade to a titanium colored Chime Card for $35 + tax.

Can I have both Chime Plus and Prime?

No, you can only have one Chime membership tier active at a time. If you qualify for Chime Prime by meeting the $3,000 monthly direct deposit threshold, your account automatically updates to Chime Prime and includes access to your new benefits, including benefits available with Chime Plus.

What happens if I drop below the qualifying deposit amount?

If you stop receiving $3,000+ in qualifying direct deposits per month, your membership tier will change based on how much you direct deposit monthly. Your membership tier will change to Chime Plus if you receive a single direct deposit of $200+ or at least $400+ cumulative per month. You will not have access to Chime Plus or Chime Prime if your direct deposit amount falls below the applicable thresholds. You can get Chime Prime again by direct depositing at least $3,000 monthly.

How do I find and learn about my Chime Prime benefits in the app?

You can find all available rewards, perks, and benefits directly in your Chime app when you tap your membership status in the Profile tab. If you need help, you can call to chat with a real person on Chime’s support team 24/7.
