At Chime, our mission is to help our members achieve financial peace of mind. We believe there’s even more we can do to help people, and that begins with improving access to higher education and skills – the foundation for lifelong prosperity. Enter the Chime Scholars Foundation.

Why we do it

We live in a country with a shrinking middle class and an increasing economic divide between our highest earners and those who are financially insecure. The best way to address this economic divide is to expand educational opportunities. This initiative is personal for Chime Co-founder & CEO Chris Britt, who benefitted from both tuition assistance and community support in his educational journey.

Through scholarships and partnerships, the Chime Scholars Foundation helps everyday people complete degrees and certifications. Our need-based scholarships are up to $5,000 annually and renewable. We recognize four-year college is not for everyone, which is why we also support students taking nontraditional pathways including certificates, trade school, community college, as well as students returning to post-secondary education after an extended break.

Chime Scholar Spotlight: Liza Rosales, transfer student at the University of Texas at Dallas

“I am so grateful to be part of the Chime Scholarship recipients. This scholarship has helped me to continue with my studies and be more focused on doing well in school rather than being worried about how to pay for it. It has given me a chance to take more courses than I planned. Also, being a recipient of this scholarship has opened so many professional doors already. I can’t wait to excel this semester. Thank you for your support.”

Chime Scholar Spotlight: Cambria Johnson, freshman at Howard University
