FAQs

How can I get paid early with Chime?

Chime has a suite of features designed to give you more flexibility with your money. It includes three ways to access funds sooner.

  • Get Paid Early: When you set up direct deposit for your Chime Checking Account, you can get your whole paycheck up to two days early.3

  • MyPay®: Get up to $500 of your pay ahead of payday.1

  • SpotMe®: Overdraft up to $2008 to cover purchases that exceed your balance so you won’t be charged fees on overdrawn transactions or cash withdrawals.

Together, these tools can help you manage cash flow and handle expenses between paychecks.

How do I set up direct deposit to get paid early?

Setting up direct deposit takes just a few steps.

Open your Chime app, tap "Move Money," then select "Move your direct deposit."

Here, you can copy your account and routing numbers to share with your payroll provider. Chime can also email you a completed direct deposit form for you to hand in to your employer when you tap Get completed form. Even better: Some eligible employers are already connected in the Chime app. Just tap Find Employer and follow the prompts on your screen.

Not big on mobile? You can log in to your Chime account online to access your account and routing numbers and to print or download a direct deposit form – whichever is easier for you.

Once your employer processes your paycheck, Chime makes funds available as soon as we receive them – which can be up to two days earlier than your scheduled payday. Learn more about setting up direct deposit at Chime.

How long does it take to receive my direct deposit on Chime?

Chime’s Get Paid Early feature means your paycheck will be available as soon as Chime receives it from your employer. That’s often up to two days earlier than you’d get it at some traditional financial institutions.3 Direct deposits are only processed on business days, so weekends and holidays may affect timing.

What's the difference between Get Paid Early, MyPay, and SpotMe?

At Chime, we believe you should get your pay as soon as possible. Each feature serves a different purpose.

  • With Get Paid Early,3 you can get your paycheck up to 2 days earlier than you normally would when you set up direct deposit to your Chime Checking Account.3

  • MyPay puts you in control of payday by allowing you to take an advance up to $500 any day before payday,1 depending on your credit limit, per pay period.

  • SpotMe® is there to cover you up to $200 on debit and credit card transactions, and cash withdrawals, as applicable, automatically, based upon your available limit.8

Get Paid Early and SpotMe work automatically once you're eligible, while MyPay lets you request funds when you need them. SpotMe and MyPay limits vary, so check the Chime app for your personal limit.

How does MyPay work?

MyPay is a line of credit that gives you early access to a portion of your pay. When you need funds before payday, you request an advance through the Chime app. Scheduled advances arrive within 24 hours at no cost, or you can pay $2-$5 for instant delivery.2 Repayment is automatic – the amount you advanced is deducted from your next qualifying direct deposit.16 There's no credit check required, and you won't pay any interest.2

How much can I get with MyPay?

MyPay limits start between $50 and $100 and can increase up to $500 based on your direct deposit history. To qualify, you need either two eligible deposits of $200 or more in the last 36 days, or one qualifying deposit plus verification of your work email or address. As you continue receiving regular payroll payments, your available limit may grow over time. MyPay isn't available in all states yet – check the app to see if you're eligible.

Are there any fees for using MyPay?

MyPay has no mandatory fees, no interest2, and no credit checks. Scheduled advances that arrive within 24 hours have no fees. If you need funds right away, there's a $2-$5 fee for instant delivery2Repayment happens automatically from your next qualifying direct deposit, so there's nothing extra to remember or manage.16

Is MyPay available in all states?

Right now, MyPay is available to eligible Chime members who live in the states listed in the Bancorp MyPay Agreement and Stride MyPay Agreement, provided all other eligibility requirements are met.1 We are working to expand our state eligibility.

What does SpotMe cover?

SpotMe covers debit card and credit card purchases that would otherwise be declined when your balance is low. SpotMe limits start at $20 and can increase to $200 or more based on your account history and direct deposit activity.8 To qualify, you need $200 or more in qualifying direct deposits each month.8 Keep in mind that SpotMe doesn't cover ACH transfers or Pay Anyone transfers – it's designed specifically for card purchases.

Can I use Get Paid Early and MyPay together?

Yes, you can use both features. Get Paid Early is automatic – your paycheck arrives up to two days early with direct deposit.3 If you need additional funds before your next paycheck hits, MyPay can provide access to up to $500 through a line of credit for members with qualifying direct deposits. This combination can give you more flexibility throughout your pay cycle.
