How does Chime make money?
Chime makes money from the interchange fee charged on card transactions. Every time you use your Chime Visa® Debit Card or secured Chime Visa® Credit Card for purchases and paying bills, Visa processes the transaction and charges an interchange fee to merchants for the service. Chime receives a portion of this fee. This is how Chime can continue building new and better products that help members get the most from their money.

When do I receive my Chime Visa® Debit Card after I open a Chime Checking Account?
After you open a Checking Account, we get started on personalizing your new Chime Visa® Debit Card. Your Chime Visa® Debit Card is usually placed in the mail within one (1) business day after you open your Checking Account. It can take 7 to 10 business days for your Chime Visa® Debit Card to arrive at your home address.
If you don’t have your Chime Visa® Debit Card within 10 business days after opening your Checking Account, please contact our Member Services team at 1-844-244-6363.
Does Chime charge any fees?
We have no fees to sign up, no overdraft fees, no monthly or annual fees, and no minimum balance fees. Optional services and products may have fees or charges, such as outbound instant transfers, out-of-network transactions, and credit products. Learn more here.
How many ATMs accept the Chime debit card?
You can get cash at more than 47,000 fee-free ATMs16 – more than the top 3 national banks combined21! Including ATMs at popular retail stores like Walgreens®, CVS®, 7-Eleven®, Circle K®, and Target®.
Get fee-free transactions at any Moneypass® ATM in a 7-Eleven location and at any Allpoint® or Visa® Plus Alliance® ATM. Otherwise, out-of-network ATM withdrawal fees may apply.
Will I ever be charged an overdraft fee?
No. If you do not have sufficient funds in your Chime® Checking Account, or have reached your SpotMe15 limit (if enrolled), then your Chime Visa® Debit Card will be declined. There is no fee for declining transactions or for utilizing SpotMe®.
If you use SpotMe with Chime Card, Chime will deduct the negative balance from your next direct deposit or transfer funds into your Chime Card Secured Deposit Account, whichever comes first.
Your SpotMe limit is shared between both your Chime Card and your Chime Visa® Debit Card. This applies to both purchases and ATM withdrawals. Note that using SpotMe with Chime Card doesn’t affect your credit scores or credit reporting.

Will it require a hard credit check to apply?
No way! We think everyone deserves a chance to build credit history. There is no impact on your credit scores when you apply for a Chime Card.22
How can the Chime Card help my credit scores?
Consistent use of the Chime Card can help you build credit with on-time payment history, increase the length of your credit history over time, and more.13 With the Chime Card, Chime will report your monthly payments to the three major bureaus – TransUnion®, Experian®, and Equifax®. We report your highest balance, your payment amount, and payment date. Utilization is not reported for your Chime Card.23 Please note that activity on other credit accounts may also impact results and credit score improvement is not guaranteed.
How do I get Chime Plus?
To get Chime Plus, you need to receive a qualifying direct deposit of $200 or more within the preceding 34 days.24 Once your deposit is processed, your Chime Plus status will activate automatically.
Is Chime Plus free?
Yes! Chime Plus status is free. There are no membership fees and no maintenance fees to access Chime Plus.

What is a qualifying direct deposit that will count towards this offer?
A Qualifying Direct Deposit is a deposit by Automated Clearing House (“ACH”) from your employer, payroll provider, gig economy payer, or benefits payer OR a deposit by Original Credit Transaction (“OCT”) by your gig economy payer. Bank ACH transfers, Pay Anyone transfers, verification or trial deposits from financial institutions, peer to peer transfers from services such as PayPal, Cash App, or Venmo, mobile check deposits, cash deposits, one-time direct deposits, such as tax refunds and other similar transactions, and any deposit to which Chime deems to not be a Qualifying Direct Deposit, are not Qualifying Direct Deposits.
