Chime Scholarship Fast Facts
$20,000 in scholarships
Chime Scholars are eligible for up to $5,000 per year to cover tuition, books, housing, and other educational expenses. Scholars are required to fill out a short renewal application annually and are eligible for up to four years of support for undergraduate programs and up to three years for transfer, trade, and technical programs (for a maximum total of $20,000 per scholar).
Open to all
CSF is open to students of all ages and pathways, Chime Members and non-Chime Members, students returning to school or starting late, and students jumping right into a program after high school. We support students at any stage in their undergraduate educational journey and highly encourage students enrolled in or thinking about attending direct workforce programs, such as trade or technical education (CTE), to apply.
Eligibility
If you are eligible to receive the federal Pell grant to attend your school/program, then you qualify. Scholarship payments are administered in two ways for accredited colleges/universities:
For the Chime Scholars Foundation Scholarship scholars: Scholarship checks will be sent directly to your college at the start of the academic year annually.
For the CSF Loan Repayment scholarship: Scholarships will be paid directly to your student loan issuer after your graduation. This will be a one-time lump sum payment.

Financial Eligibility
Chime Scholars must be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant and have a minimum financial need of $2,500. To know if you are eligible for a Pell Grant and have enough need to qualify, you must complete the FAFSA and upload a copy of your FAFSA submission summary page.
Prepared to commit
To school, that is. We need to know where you will be enrolling and that you’re prepared for the work by demonstrating a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA. You will need to upload your high school (or college) transcript and declare your school by the application deadline.
Degree type
The Chime Scholars Foundation accepts students from multiple programs like bachelor’s degrees, associates degrees and trade/vocational programs. We cannot award students who have already received a bachelor’s degree or who are pursuing a post-graduate degree.
Are you driven to succeed? Resilient? Responsible?
Chime Scholars are resilient problem solvers who know why higher education is important.
In the application:
Share why you should be a Chime Scholar and why this scholarship is important to you.
You can use ChatGPT or another AI resource to help brainstorm and/or clean-up your answers before submitting.
No need for AI fluff, just make sure “you” shine through with examples and anecdotes.
Pro tip:
Show the Chime Scholars Foundation team why you’ve chosen your field of study.
Tell us your plan. Do you want to help people? In what way? What do you hope to do after graduation? Tell us your goals and how your education connects to them.
