Chase Bank Fees
Chase gives customers access to its network of ATMs and branches. It also charges fees for its accounts. These charges include Chase overdraft fees, monthly services fees, checking account fees, wire transfer fees, and ATM fees for using a non-Chase machine. Chase also offers options for mobile and online banking.
Checking account fees Chase Secure CheckingSM,2
Chase bank offers five types of checking accounts, not including those for students¹:
- Chase Secure BankingSM
- Chase Total Checking®
- Chase Premier Plus CheckingSM
- Chase SapphireSM Banking
- Chase Private Client CheckingSM
Chase Secure BankingSM has a fixed Monthly Service Fee of $4.95.² You do not need a minimum deposit to open this account. There are no Chase fees for money orders or cashier’s checks and no fees at Chase ATMs.¹
However, the Chase Secure Checking account doesn’t give you access to overdraft services, checks, wire transfers, or a safe deposit box.¹
Checking account fees Chase Total Checking®,2
You don’t have to pay an opening deposit on a Chase Total Checking® account. It has a Monthly Service Fee of $12, which can be waived by one of the following:
- Electronic deposits made into this account totaling $500 or more.
- Daily balance of $1,500 or more in just this account.
- An average beginning day balance of $5,000 or more in any combination of Chase Total Checking® account and linked qualifying deposits/investments.²
Overdraft services are available for Chase Total Checking® account holders through Chase Overdraft Assist. You’ll pay $0 to $50 for wire transfers and $5 per money order.²
Checking account fees Chase Premier Plus CheckingSM,2
Chase Premier Plus CheckingSM has a Monthly Service Fee of $25, which can be waived when one of the following is true:
- You have a combined daily balance of $15,000 across Chase checking and savings accounts.
- You have a linked qualifying Chase first mortgage enrolled in automatic payments from your Chase account.
Current and former military members pay a $0 monthly maintenance fee with valid military ID.
You don’t pay an additional ATM fee while using out-of-network ATMs for up to four transactions. Non-Chase ATM transaction fees are waived for active-duty and reserve service members. Eligible military members also pay no fees for incoming or outgoing wire transfers.²
This account earns interest at a rate of 0.01%.³ You won’t have to pay a fee for design checks when ordered through Chase, Counter Check, Money Order, and Cashier’s Check.¹
There is no Monthly Service Fee on up to two additional Chase personal checking accounts (excluding Chase SapphireSM Checking and Chase Private Client CheckingSM) or a Chase personal savings account when linked to Chase Premier Plus Checking.SM,2
Checking account fees Chase SapphireSM Checking
Chase SapphireSM Checking has a monthly service fee of $25, which can be waived if you have a combined daily minimum balance of $75,000 across linked Chase accounts and deposits.
In addition, this account earns interest at a rate of 0.01%.³ With this account, you don’t have to pay a Monthly Service Fee for up to nine additional personal Chase checking accounts.
You don’t have to pay a Chase fee for services like:
- ATM use worldwide.
- Debit card Foreign Exchange Rate Adjustment.
- Non-ATM cash transactions.
- Card replacement, including rush requests.
- Stop payments.
- Deposited Item returned or Cashed Check returned.
- Incoming or outgoing wire transfers.
- Chase design checks when ordered through Chase.
- Counter checks, money orders, and cashier’s checks.
- Legal processing.
Additionally, there is no Overdraft Fee charged within the first four business days of an item being presented against your account. That allows time to make a deposit in order to avoid an overdraft fee.¹
Checking account fees Chase Private Client CheckingSM
Chase Private Client Checking is a premium account option that earns a 0.01% APY across all balance tiers.³ Relationship rates are available when you link a Chase Private Client Savings account.
This checking account has a $35 monthly service fee which can be waived with either:
- a minimum daily balance of $150,000 combined across Chase accounts, deposits, and investments.
- a linked Chase Platinum Business Checking account.
A Chase Private Client Checking account-holder doesn’t have to pay fees for:
- Personal style checks when ordered through Chase.
- Annual rent for a 3″ x 5″ Safe Deposit Box or smaller (20% discount on larger sizes) for existing rentals.
- Wire transfers.
- Money orders, cashier’s checks, and counter checks.
- Stop payments.
- Debit card replacement.
- Deposited Item returned or Cashed Check returned.
- Debit card Foreign Exchange Rate adjustment.
Similar to Chase Sapphire Checking, there is no insufficient funds fee charged within the first four business days of an item being presented against your account.¹
Savings account fees
Chase SavingsSM,1
Chase offers three savings accounts:
- Chase SavingsSM
- Chase Premier SavingsSM
- Chase Private Client SavingsSM
The Monthly Service Fee for a Chase Savings account is $5. This fee is waived when you meet one of the following conditions:
- Have a savings account that is tied to a Premier Plus CheckingSM, Chase SapphireSM Banking, or Chase Private Client CheckingSM account.
- Have a minimum daily balance of $300 or more.
- Have an automatic repeating transfer of $25 or more into the savings account each month.
- Have a Chase College Checking account linked to this account for overdraft protection.
- Are under 18.
There is a $5 Savings Withdrawal Limit Fee which applies to each withdrawal transaction over six per month.¹
Savings account fees
Chase Premier SavingsSM
The monthly maintenance fee for a Chase Premier SavingsSM account is $25, which can be waived if you have either:
- A balance at the beginning of each day of $15,000 or more in this account.
- A linked Chase Premier Plus CheckingSM or Chase SapphireSM Banking account.
If you make more than six withdrawals a month with this account, Chase will charge you $5 per withdrawal. However, you can bypass this by maintaining a $15,000 balance at the withdrawal time.
If you have this account, Chase automatically waives the fee for:
- Non-Chase ATM transactions.
- Incoming wire transfers.¹
Savings account fees
Chase Private Client SavingsSM
This account comes with a clause—you can only open it if you have a Chase Private Client Checking account. You don’t have to pay a Monthly Service Fee for this account, and it comes with a variable interest rate. With this account, Chase waives charges for services like:
- ATM use worldwide.
- Non-Chase ATM transactions.
- Card Replacement – Rush Request.
- Incoming or outgoing wire transfers.
- Stop Payments.
- Deposited Item returned or Cashed Check returned.
- Money orders and cashier’s checks.
- Legal processing.¹
Chase Overdraft fees
Chase overdraft fees are $34 for each item returned or submitted to an account with insufficient funds that overdraws the account by more than $50.
Items that overdraw the account by less than $5 won’t be charged the overdraft fee.
Chase assesses up to three overdraft charges totaling $102 per day.²
Chase ATM fees
Chase charges $3 per transaction to use an ATM that isn’t in the Chase network in the United States.
Using an international ATM that isn’t in the Chase network costs $5 per withdrawal–on top of any fees that the ATM owner might charge.
ATM withdrawal limits range from $300 to $3,000, depending on whether you’re accessing a Chase or non-Chase ATM.¹
Penalties and withdrawal fees
There is a $5 Savings Withdrawal Limit Fee which applies to each withdrawal transaction over six per month. Chase can charge a maximum of three savings withdrawal limit fees per month, for a total of $15.
All withdrawal and transfer transactions count toward the fee, including those made at ATMs or a Chase branch.²
Other fees
Several other fees charged by Chase are standard across all account types. These are:
- Stop Payment – $30 per request
- Online or Automated Phone Stop Payment – $25 per request
- Deposited Item Returned or Cashed Check Returned – $12 per item
- Counter Check – $3 per page
- Money Order – $5 per check
- Cashier’s Check – $10 per check
- Legal Processing – Up to $100 per order¹
