Yesterday, Chime® hosted its third Compound CombineTM event in partnership with Invest America, bringing the series to Pittsburgh, PA. The interactive financial education event follows earlier stops in Jersey City, NJ, and Charlotte, NC. Pittsburgh's edition featured a special guest, Steelers Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis, who joined families just hours before the Steelers took on the Indianapolis Colts at home.

500 families attended the event at the Plaza at North Shore, taking part in an afternoon focused on financial education, hands-on learning, and discovering new ways to invest in their future.

About the series

The Compound Combine is a nationwide event series that brings one core wealth-building idea to communities across America: the earlier you start, the greater your potential for growth. Building wealth, like becoming an elite athlete, is about starting early, staying consistent, and trusting small gains to add up over time. At athletic stations like Rate of Return, The Long Game, and Net Gains, kids and families learn about compound growth through games and activities that make long-term investing tangible.

“Compound interest might be the most powerful force to build wealth and unlock financial progress,”  said Kira Traore, Director of Social Impact at Chime. “We built the Compound Combine to show families how even small amounts, saved early, can grow into something life-changing.”

Bettis was joined at the event by community partners, including Junior Achievement of Western PA and The Neighborhood Academy.

“Financial education is about giving young people the knowledge and confidence to make smart decisions today that can shape their futures for years to come,” said Representative Aerion Abney of the 19th District of Pennsylvania. “Events like the Compound Combine create an opportunity to make those lessons real and accessible for kids and families across Pittsburgh. I’m proud to support efforts that equip our young people with financial literacy tools they can carry with them throughout their lives.”

"The past four months have marked the most widespread wealth creation event in history for kids across the country. Now, over 70 million children have Trump Accounts, millions of which are already funded by the $1,000 federal contribution and historic philanthropic contributions,” said Brad Gerstner, founder of Invest America.  “The Compound Combine helps families take the next step by establishing a playbook for a lifetime of healthy financial decisions. Invest America is excited to continue our partnership with Chris Britt and the entire Chime team to bring the Compound Combine event series to families across the country.”

Families also learned about the benefits of Trump Accounts and how to claim these investment accounts, which are designed to help kids start investing early. Chime was among the first companies to commit to matching the federal government's $1,000 seed contribution for eligible children of Chime employees born between 2025 and 2028. In August, Chime expanded that commitment, extending a $250 contribution to all other children of Chime employees.
