His proven track record of growing teams during critical growth phases at companies like DoorDash, Genentech, and Calico Labs (Alphabet) makes him uniquely qualified to lead Chime’s talent initiatives.

In his role as VP of Talent, Matt will oversee Chime’s recruiting, talent management, and workforce planning strategies. His experience scaling organizations through various growth stages and industries will be invaluable as Chime continues to expand its team and impact.

– Sarah Wagener, Chief People Officer at Chime

Prior to joining Chime, Matt served as Chief People Officer at Shape Therapeutics. His career spans impressive scaling achievements across multiple industries, including growing DoorDash from 2,000 to 17,000 employees during its pre-IPO phase and through the pandemic. At Genentech, he built teams that developed first-in-class cancer therapies, including groundbreaking treatments for colorectal cancer. His experience also includes leadership roles at Calico Labs, Alphabet’s biotechnology company focused on longevity research. Matt’s approach to talent management is shaped by his understanding that each company’s growth journey is unique, requiring customized solutions rather than one-size-fits-all approaches.

“What drew me to Chime was the combination of working with exceptional leadership and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by making financial inclusion a reality for everyday Americans. Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to work with companies that help improve people’s lives—whether through breakthrough medical treatments or supporting small businesses during the pandemic. Chime’s mission aligns perfectly with this focus on creating positive change, and I’m excited to help build and develop the teams that will continue to drive our growth and innovation.”
