Chime Members Share 6 Reasons Why They Love SpotMe Boost

We launched a new way to show your love to friends and family through SpotMe Boosts, and the outpouring of generosity surprised us—so much that we had to share these real stories from the Chime community.

You’ve probably heard that we recently launched SpotMe Boosts—a super cool way to help others while also adding to your own SpotMe¹ limit. Win-win!

Since then, we’ve received tons of love so we thought we’d share a few ways our Chime community has used this feature to bless their friends and fam. 💚

Stretching to Payday 💵

When it comes to money stress, payday is both a blessing and a curse. Everyone loves having their hard-earned cash in hand, but it can be a real hassle to get there. Luckily, having amazing friends can help! Katie P., a Chime member, knows this better than most. She says she “wouldn’t have been able to make it to work without” her amazing friend, Christique, who used SpotMe Boosts to help her get to work the day before payday. Thank goodness for besties who boost! 

Another payday success story comes from Bey, who has been a Chime member for nearly 5 years! They’ve been on the grind at work, but as a part-time employee, they told us that it’s hard enough to “survive with bills and living in general,” but when money gets tight, they said that

SpotMe Boosts “helped me make it through … until my next payday.”

We’ve never been so grateful to know that we made a difference in Bey’s life.

A Little Boost to Make it Through the Day ☀️

Random acts of kindness help make the world go round, and when that random act is a SpotMe Boost, that makes it even sweeter! Chime member Christopher told us that SpotMe Boosts really keep him going when he’s “awaiting my early payday, and running low on funds.” (Chime members get paid up to 2 days early with direct deposit.)² His wife boosts him $5 for his morning coffee before work. A partner that understands the importance of both caffeine and SpotMe? We’re in love, too!

SpotMe Boosts are also great for showing some coworker love too. Jannie told us that it was one of her coworkers that “surprised” her with a SpotMe Boost in her time of need! Because of their act of generosity, she was able to get dinner before payday hit. Nothing tastes better than a meal from someone you know that’s got your back. She says that her coworker “definitely helped me in a time of need,” and that’s what our Chime community is all about. 🤝

At the Gas Pump ⛽

When it comes to our favorite thing to complain about, nothing comes close to the controversial topic of gas prices. Good thing our community has been helping each other out with SpotMe Boost at the pump, too! Chime member Nasir and his sister have been taking advantage of the “extra boost” that SpotMe provides.

“Without my SpotMe, I would not have been able to get gas for me or dad’s vehicle.”

Together, these siblings are watching out for each other. 

When getting gas, Austin, a newly-employed Chime member, has also used the Boost feature before (and has SpotMe Boost to thank for his new role!). He told us “I used my SpotMe and it saved me in a pinch,” because he needed gas to get to his job interview! With gas in his tanks and a shiny new job, Austin is thriving, as he should! 

Bills, Bills, Bills 💸

Paying bills can be a bummer but, fortunately, SpotMe Boost has been helping our members stay on top of their on-time payments. Chime member Lydia told us about when she was charged for her phone bill that she “completely forgot about!” It happens to the best of us, but luckily for her, her niece had randomly sent her a boost the day before. She said “I was able to pay my bill,” which was vital for her because she was a busy woman, “working from home and being a parent.” All thanks to that small act of kindness, her life was made just a little bit easier. Everyone needs someone like Lydia’s niece in their lives. 

Anna, another Chime member, had the opposite problem as Lydia. She forgot that she set her bills to autopay, and so when that day came, she assumed they were paid. She said

“I was sick when that last bill came through … luckily, my mom and sister sent me Boosts.”

With her family’s help, she was able to pay her bills off with no stress—that’s the power of family (and Boosts).

Supporting Parents 👪

From raising children to working long hours, parents work so hard to provide for their loved ones. Nicole, a Chime member and mother of three, says she can’t tell us “how handy it has been to have those extra few dollars the last month or two.” She’s been under a lot of pressure in her work and home life, but she said “When I needed the little extra to get me through, my friends and Chime have had my back.” We’re so grateful that we could be a part of making Nicole’s life just a little bit easier.

Imani has a similar perspective. As a Chime member and a mother, she said “Being a single parent, extra money can come in handy.”

Recently, her and her sisters, who all have Chime, have gotten used to giving each other a SpotMe Boost when needed. With her Boost, she told us

“I was able to buy things for my family, and pay it back that following payday.”

Nothing feels better than knowing your family’s got you, and you’ve got them.

Paying It Forward 🤲

No surprise, this was our favorite part of reading your responses about SpotMe Boosts! Hearing about the generosity humankind has for each other is touching, and highlights the importance of practicing kindness, everyday. While Imani was telling us about SpotMe Boosts, she also revealed that her sister was temporarily unemployed during Covid-19. Understanding her struggle, Imani boosted her sister multiple times over a few months, and eventually, her sister got a job interview! She thinks SpotMe Boosts are “a great idea” because “it helps out during these tough times.”

From families showing up for each other to friends lending a helping hand, the impact of the Chime community is huge. For Chime member Holly, she thinks that “SpotMe Boosts are amazing. It’s bringing Chime customers together in a way nothing else would have.” She’s boosted total strangers in her crew, just because she can. “It’s creating a pay it forward revolution!” she tells us, and TBH, we have to agree. 💚
