Have questions
about MyPay?

How do I determine my MyPay line of credit limit and available amount?

During each pay period, you are able to see your credit limit and the amount that is available to you to access that day. Money available to you can be accessed right from the Chime mobile app, and is transferred directly into your Chime Checking Account. The minimum amount that can be advanced at a time is $20, and the maximum is your available amount, up to your credit limit. Most members credit limits start between $50 to $100, and can increase over time up to $500 depending on factors such as length and amount of your direct deposit activity.

Still have questions? Learn more about how MyPay works on our blog.

Is MyPay available only in certain states?

Right now, MyPay is available to eligible Chime members who live in the states listed in the Bancorp MyPay Agreement and Stride MyPay Agreement, provided all other eligibility requirements are met. We are working to expand our state eligibility.

How much does MyPay cost?

It is free to access MyPay and there is no optional tipping. There are no fees for scheduled advances, which arrive in your Chime Checking Account within 24 hours after requesting an advance. You can also choose to get money instantly for $2 per advance.

What’s the catch?

We believe in transparency. When you use MyPay, there is never any interest*, no credit check, and no mandatory fees.

Will using MyPay impact my credit score?

Chime does not perform a credit check when you use MyPay, and we do not report your payment history to the credit bureaus. Certain members of the Armed Forces and their dependents can receive benefits under the Military Lending Act. When you enroll in MyPay, we will verify whether you are eligible for those benefits. This is not a credit check and it does not affect your credit score.

How do I get access to MyPay?

Start by setting up a $200+ qualifying direct deposit. You must have an activated physical Chime card, receive qualifying direct deposits, and live in a state where MyPay is offered. If you become eligible, you’ll be invited to unlock MyPay. Right now, MyPay is available to anyone who lives in the states listed in our eligibility requirements, provided all other eligibility requirements are met. We are working to expand our state eligibility.

How is MyPay different from Get Paid Early and SpotMe®?

At Chime, we believe you should get your pay as soon as possible. With Get Paid Early7, you can also get your paycheck up to 2 days earlier than you normally would when you set up a qualifying direct deposit to your Chime Checking Account.

SpotMe8 is fee-free overdraft you don’t have to think about. If your account hits $0, SpotMe is there to cover you up to $200 on debit card purchases, Credit Builder transactions, and cash withdrawals, as applicable, automatically, based upon your available limit. If you are enrolled in SpotMe, please check your Chime mobile app for details on your SpotMe limit.

MyPay puts you in control of payday by allowing you take an advance, up to $500^ any day before payday, depending on your credit limit, per pay period.

How does Chime make money?

Chime makes money primarily by collecting a portion of something called an interchange fee. An interchange fee (also called a swipe fee) is a fee that’s designed to cover the cost of processing debit or credit card transactions electronically. The merchant that accepts a debit or credit card as payment pays an interchange fee back to the card issuer. This is how Chime can continue building new and better products that help members get the most from their money.

Does Chime charge other fees?

Chime charges a fee if you withdraw cash from out-of-network ATMs or make over the counter (OTC) withdrawals. The fee is $2.50, and again, it only applies to out-of-network ATMs or OTC withdrawals.

You can withdraw cash without a fee at more than 50,000 Allpoint or Visa Plus Alliance ATMs or MoneyPass ATMs located in retailers you love, like Target and inside 7-Eleven locations. MoneyPass® ATMs not in a 7-eleven location will be subject to fee(s). Refer to your Chime app on how to find in-network ATMs.

Cash deposits9 are fee-free for Chime members at checkout counters at Walgreens and Duane Reade stores. Cash deposits made at other locations may incur a fee, which is charged by the merchant and not Chime.

While there is no mandatory fee to use MyPay and you can receive your advance fee-free* within 24 hours of requesting it, you have the option to get your MyPay advance instantly for a $2.00 fee.

8SpotMe® for Credit Builder is an optional, no interest/no fee overdraft line of credit tied to the Secured Deposit Account. SpotMe on Debit is an optional, no fee service attached to your Chime Checking Account (individually or collectively, “SpotMe”). Eligibility for SpotMe requires $200 or more in qualifying direct deposits to your Chime Checking Account each month.
Qualifying members will be allowed to overdraw their Chime Checking Account and/or their Secured Deposit Account up to $20 in total, but may be later eligible for a higher combined limit of up to $200 or more based on member’s Chime account history, direct deposit frequency and amount, spending activity and other risk-based factors. Your SpotMe Limit will be displayed to you within the Chime mobile app. You will receive notice of any changes to your SpotMe Limit. Your SpotMe Limit may change at any time, at Chime or its banking partners’ discretion. Although there are no overdraft fees, there may be out-of-network or third party fees associated with ATM transactions or OTC cash withdrawal fees at retailers. SpotMe won't cover non card transactions, including ACH transfers, Pay Anyone transfers, or Chime Checkbook transactions. SpotMe Terms and Conditions.

9Once the retailer accepts your cash, the funds will be transferred to your selected Chime Account. Barcode and debit card cash deposits land in the Checking Account. Credit Builder card cash deposits first go through your Card Account and then land in your Secured Account. Cash deposit fees may apply if using a retailer other than Walgreens and Duane Reade.
