Chime Announces New Office Lease in New York City

Chime Team • May 8, 2025

Chime today announced that it is putting down permanent roots in New York City with a long-term lease at 122 Fifth Avenue, right in the heart of the Flatiron District—a neighborhood known for its energy, history, and its role as a hub of tech, finance, and innovation. The new space, set to open in late 2026, will serve as a center for collaboration and connection, designed to bring teams together and advance the company’s mission of unlocking financial progress. Chime was represented by Jamie Saunders, Janna Luce, Jacob Berston, Gregg Cohen and Sam Steinberg of Cresa.

New York has long played a role in Chime’s growth story. The metro area is home to one of the largest concentrations of Chime members in the country, making it a natural extension of the company’s work and values. From a pilot office in a Chelsea co-working space, to an expanded Midtown presence, to the acquisition of New York-based Salt Labs and the opening of a downtown office at 101 Greenwich Street, Chime’s footprint in the city has grown alongside the team. Today, New York-based employees represent teams from all across the organization—from product and engineering to sales, marketing, partnerships, and more.

Chime’s work in New York also extends beyond offices and products. Through community programs, Chime proudly partners with a wide range of local organizations, including the Precious Dreams Foundation, Meals on Wheels, and a roster of New York-based Chime Community Changemakers such as EatOkra, First Tech Fund, Marcy Lab School, Official Black Wall Street, Seeds of Fortune, and WeThrive.

For co-founder and CEO, Chris Britt, this move represents a full-circle moment. Raised just north of the city in Mount Vernon, Britt returned to New York and started his early career in Manhattan after graduating from Tulane. Those formative experiences—riding the subway, working in the city, and being surrounded by people from every walk of life—helped inspire the mission behind Chime: to serve everyday people and help them make progress on their financial journey.

The new space at 122 Fifth Avenue is being designed to reflect how Chime works and what it stands for. With a rooftop offering skyline views, branded signage that puts the brand front and center, and flexible, modern spaces built for hybrid work, the office will be a destination for ideas, innovation, and purpose-driven collaboration.

The office space is currently under construction and doors will officially open in 2026. In the meantime, this new flagship office signals a deeper commitment to the city and communities that have shaped Chime’s journey. From members and teammates to mission-aligned partners, New York continues to be central to the company’s future.
