New YouTube series launches with an emotional episode, free Detroit concert, and youth-focused community event celebrating the moms and moments that shape success
Chime®recently debuted Mama, I Made It, a new original YouTube series that explores financial success through a new lens: mom’s point of view. Each episode features a cultural figure in candid conversation with their mother or mother-like figure who helped shape their journey, offering reflections, reality checks, and untold moments that rarely make headlines. The series builds on Chime’s mission to help everyday people Unlock Financial ProgressTM by celebrating the real, often unseen stories behind success—and the people who support us, keep us grounded, and shape what “making it” really means.
The premiere episode features Grammy-nominated artist Big Sean in an intimate conversation with his mother, Myra Anderson. Together, they unpack their shared story—from juggling multiple jobs and credit card debt to making his first $1M and buying her a condo. The episode also marks the 10th anniversary of Dark Sky Paradise, Big Sean’s 2015 studio album.
To celebrate the launch and honor Mother’s Day, Big Sean hosted a free hometown concert in Detroit, with admission compliments of Chime. In addition to the general public, 100 lucky Chime members were able to snag tickets for themselves and a guest. Held at Saint Andrews Hall on Sunday, May 11, the concert was both a celebration and a statement, honoring the city that raised him and the mother who inspired him.
On Monday, May 12, Chime partnered with Big Sean’s nonprofit, the Sean Anderson Foundation, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan for a community event centered on mental and financial wellness. More than 100 kids, ages 5 to 18, participated in interactive wellness activities, including a Dream Deposit Box experience presented by Chime and the Precious Dreams Foundation. Each child received a piggy bank and was encouraged by Big Sean to “Dream Big, Follow Through”—writing down their aspirations and creating actionable steps to achieve them. Mothers and mother figures of the children were also invited to join.
Additional stations included journaling, guided meditation, and financial education exercises. The afternoon culminated in a fireside chat with Big Sean, who spoke directly to the youth and their families about his own financial journey, the role his mother played in it, and how mental wellness is key to sustained financial progress.
New episodes of Mama, I Made It will spotlight more influential voices and the loved ones who helped shape them—continuing the series’ mission to show that success is never a solo act.
