In celebration of Financial Progress Month®, Chime® brought financial empowerment directly to communities across the nation through interactive, in-person events designed to teach, inspire, and foster financial education among students and community members alike. Chime also participated in several public sector-led events, including tax time events and a Financial Literacy & Wealth Creation Caucus Resource Fair.
In Boulder, Colorado, Chime partnered with the Boulder Technical Education Center (TEC) to host a financial empowerment activation for more than 125 local high school juniors and seniors. The immersive event featured “Life in the Neighborhood,” a budgeting simulation in which students navigated real-life financial decisions. The simulation connected personal finance concepts to the students’ lived experiences and career pathways and aimed to equip them with the confidence, context, and tools to make smart money decisions as they navigate life during and after high school.
Following the hands-on portion of the event, special guest Coach Deion Sanders spoke to students in a fireside chat moderated by 2023 Chime Community Changemaker and founder of The Hustlers Guild, Yasmin Salina. Sanders discussed how students can turn their passions into progress and how to think about where to put their money. Representatives from Colorado Senator Judy Amabile’s office also joined, underscoring local support for financial education and youth engagement.
Meanwhile, in Dallas, Chime collaborated with community partner For Oak Cliff, engaging 60 seniors from South Oak Cliff High School. The day-long program featured hands-on financial education games, realistic budget simulations, and real-time financial decision-making scenarios, from managing unexpected medical expenses to navigating career advancements. The experiential format was supported by engaging tools and incentives provided by our financial education partner, Zogo®, enhancing students’ engagement and reinforcing healthy financial habits.
Finally, in Washington, D.C., alongside over 30 community partners Chime participated in the Financial Literacy & Wealth Creation Caucus Resource Fair: a bipartisan effort to make financial empowerment a reality for all Americans. The fair underscored the critical importance of financial literacy at every stage of life and attracted more than 100 attendees, including Congressional representatives Beatty and Kim, as well as local Chime Scholars Foundation scholarship recipients.
“By taking financial education directly into communities and schools, we make the concept of financial progress tangible and the resources to achieve it accessible,” said Chime’s VP of Community, Sara El-Amine. “Our goal is not only to provide practical tools but also to spark lasting conversations around financial health and preparedness, empowering individuals to confidently navigate their financial lives—no matter what stage they’re at.”
Chime will continue championing financial empowerment, and hosting additional programming, including a presence at the upcoming Financial Health Network’s EMERGE conference.
