In a continued commitment to expanding access to higher education and fostering financial progress, Chime® today announced its 2024-2025 Chime Scholars Foundation (CSF) cohort, awarding more than $2 million in scholarships to 438 students for the 2024-2025 academic year—an increase of 180 scholars from the previous year.
Chime’s CEO and Co-Founder, Chris Britt, launched CSF to alleviate the financial burden of education and help unlock opportunities for ambitious students from all walks of life to pursue degrees, certificates, vocational training, and more. Reflecting on his own experiences with financial support, Chris emphasizes the transformative impact that accessible education can have: “Higher education is one of the most powerful engines for economic mobility. With CSF, we aim to expand access so that others have the same opportunity I did.”
This year’s achievements include:
- Increased Reach: A remarkable 438 students received scholarships, up nearly 70% from 258 last year.
- Enhanced Integration: More than 150 of this year’s scholars are also Chime members, highlighting our continued commitment to improving our members’ financial journeys in numerous ways.
- Expanded Opportunities: The number of scholarships for non-traditional educational paths, including trade schools and professional certifications, has doubled from the previous year, and more than 60% of recipients are first-generation college students. This expansion aligns with our mission to create more pathways for financial advancement and career success.
Chime is proud of this year’s group of CSF scholars and excited for the various post-secondary educational avenues they’re pursuing, from four-year universities to vocational training programs and specialty trade schools.
As CSF continues to build on its success, the organization remains committed to helping everyday people build a better future through higher education. Chime has pledged 1% of its equity to fund CSF, reflecting its long-term commitment to education access and community support.
