Chime’s hours of operations

Good news! Chime is available anytime, anywhere, online or right at your fingertips with the Chime mobile app. As an online-only alternative for banking, there are no physical limitations! You’ll never have to worry about scheduling time to deposit a check.

If you ever need a human to help you with specific questions, Chime customer support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Chime observes all federal and bank holidays. Our banking partners are closed on federal holidays, which may affect the timing of your direct deposit.

How does direct deposit work?

Remember back in the day when your employer would give you a paper check? Now, you can skip a trip to the bank to cash in your paycheck. Direct deposit is a fully automatic transaction that electronically deposits money into your checking account without waiting for a check. Super convenient, right?

You can set up your Chime Checking Account to receive direct deposit straight from your employer. When you receive direct deposit to your Chime Checking Account, you can access your funds up to two days early¹. That’s two more days to help your money go further, whether that’s paying off your monthly utility bill or splurging on a trip to Cancun.

Chime will always post your funds as soon as we receive them from your employer. The timing of when your direct deposit gets processed depends on when your employer processes their payroll or your benefits provider submits a check. Deposits are posted Monday through Friday.

Chime will never hold your money, so if you are experiencing delays, it’s best to check back with your employer to confirm what time and date they sent the paycheck. Once your money is posted to your Chime account, you’ll receive a push notification and email letting you know, ka-ching! You got paid!

Does Chime deposit on weekends?

Chime posts direct deposit payments to your checking account Monday through Friday. Our banking partners do not process payments on weekends or banking holidays.

If you’re expecting your direct deposit to arrive on the weekend, your money will appear in your Chime account the following Monday or the next business day (if it’s a holiday).

FAQs

How do I set up Chime direct deposit?

Setting up direct deposit is a breeze through the Chime app! It’s totally free and simple to do. Have your routing and account numbers handy. Then, you can either set up your direct deposit through the app or via your employer portal. Once your direct deposit is set up and approved by your employer, you can expect to receive your first Chime deposit within your next two payment cycles.

Receiving your first qualifying direct deposit payment in your Checking Account helps unlock helpful features like SpotMe® and the Chime Credit Builder Secured Visa® Credit Card designed to help you build credit over time³

What time does direct deposit hit Chime?

Direct deposits post Monday to Friday throughout the day. As a general rule of thumb, direct deposits with Chime will be in your Chime account by 9:00 a.m. EST on your typical payday. However, this is the latest you will get your direct deposit with Chime, and often it will come at an earlier time.

Set up recurring payments like rent or credit card bills without worrying about deadlines. When banking through Chime, we make it our priority to get your hard-earned money to you without delay.

How do I unlock Chime features like SpotMe®?

When you set up direct deposits and receive at least one qualifying direct deposit payment of $200 to your Chime Checking Account, you’ll be able to unlock our SpotMe feature!

SpotMe lets you overdraft up to $200 on debit card purchases with no fees². All Chime members who receive a single $200 or more in monthly qualifying direct deposits are eligible to use SpotMe. You will need to activate your Chime Visa® Debit Card to unlock access to the SpotMe benefit.

Final thoughts

Don’t stress if you don’t see your paycheck on Thanksgiving – our banking partners are taking a well-earned break. Plan ahead with Chime’s holiday schedule in mind to know when your direct deposit will hit.

Using the Chime app, you can manage your money with a few screen taps to put more time back into your day. Ready to get paid? Set up direct deposit through your Chime account to access your hard-earned cash from your phone.

1 Early access to direct deposit funds depends on the timing of the submission of the payment file from the payer. We generally make these funds available on the day the payment file is received, which may be up to 2 days earlier than the scheduled payment date.

2 Chime SpotMe is an optional, no fee service that requires a single deposit of $200 or more in qualifying direct deposits to the Chime Checking Account each month. All qualifying members will be allowed to overdraw their account up to $20 on debit card purchases and cash withdrawals initially, but may be later eligible for a higher limit of up to $200 or more based on member's Chime Account history, direct deposit frequency and amount, spending activity and other risk-based factors. Your limit will be displayed to you within the Chime mobile app. You will receive notice of any changes to your limit. Your limit may change at any time, at Chime's discretion. Although there are no overdraft fees, there may be out-of-network or third party fees associated with ATM transactions. SpotMe won't cover non-debit card transactions, including ACH transfers, Pay Anyone transfers, or Chime Checkbook transactions. See Terms and Conditions.

3 On-time payment history can have a positive impact on your credit score. Late payment may negatively impact your credit score. Chime will report your activities to Transunion®, Experian®, and Equifax®. Impact on your credit may vary, as Credit scores are independently determined by credit bureaus based on a number of factors including the financial decisions you make with other financial services organizations.
