How does the Chime Savings Account work?
A Chime Savings Account allows you to place money in a savings account at a bank to earn interest. Your funds are held at FDIC-insured banks.² Read more below about which bank is holding your money .
Check out which financial institution provides banking services for your Chime account. The bank’s name appears in your Checking Account and Savings Account Agreements and also appears on the back of your Chime debit card.
The Bancorp Bank Depositors
For The Bancorp Bank depositors, your funds are held at Bancorp. You’ll be able to access the funds in your Savings Account by transferring money to your Checking Account in the Chime Mobile App or online.
See the Savings Account Agreement for complete details about The Bancorp Bank sponsored savings account program for Chime Members.
Stride Bank, N.A. Depositors
For Stride Bank Savings Account depositors, the savings account program permits Stride Bank to automatically arrange the deposit of your total available Chime Savings Account balance into interest-bearing deposit accounts at one or more U.S. bank chartered, depository institutions (what we call a “Program Bank”). You’ll be able to access the funds in your Savings Account by transferring money to your Checking Account (up to six (6) times per statement cycle) using the Chime Mobile App or online.
The roster of Program Banks appears on a Program Bank list. The list and the amount of your savings account funds at each Program Bank are always accessible through the Chime Mobile App or by contacting Chime Member Services at 844-244-6363 or emailing email@example.com.
You will not have direct relationships with Program Banks. Instead, all deposits to and withdrawals from the Program Banks will be made by Stride on your behalf. If you would like to know how much of your funds is held at any particular Program Bank, you should check your Savings Account Statement or contact Chime Member Services, not the Program Banks.
See the Savings Account Agreement for complete details about how your Stride-provided Savings Account works.

¹ APY—Annual Percentage Yield. The rate for the Savings Account is variable and may change at any time. The APY disclosed is effective as of December 9, 2020. Visit the Chime website for the most current rate. No minimum balance required. Must have at least $0.01 in Savings Account to earn interest.
² FDIC deposit insurance limit is $250,000 per depositor, per insured bank, per ownership category. For Stride Bank Savings Account depositors: You are responsible for monitoring the total amount of all deposits you have with each Program Bank in order to determine the extent of available FDIC deposit insurance coverage. If the amount of your funds on deposit at each Program Bank on the List is equal to the deposit insurance limit, any additional funds that you wish to deposit will be held without limit and without FDIC deposit insurance coverage at the designated Excess Bank, currently Associated Bank, N.A. See the Savings Account Agreement for details about this feature.
For Stride Savings Account depositors: At any time you may designate a Program Bank as ineligible to receive Savings Account funds. This will result in your funds being deposited at another Program Bank. An alternative Program Bank may also be provided. To designate a Program Bank ineligible, contact Member Services. If you do not wish to participate in the Program, contact Member Services to opt-out and close the Savings Account. See the Savings Account Agreement for complete details about this program.
