How does the Chime Savings Account work?
A Chime Savings Account allows you to place money in a savings account at a bank to earn interest. Your funds are held at one or more FDIC-insured banks.² Read more below about which bank is holding your money.
Check out which financial institution provides banking services for your Chime account. The bank’s name appears in your Checking Account and Savings Account Agreements and also appears on the back of your Chime debit card.
Chime Sweep Program
For savings account depositors at The Bancorp Bank, N.A. and Stride Bank, N.A., the Chime Sweep Program permits each bank to automatically arrange the deposit of your total available Chime Savings Account balance into interest-bearing deposit accounts at one or more U.S. bank chartered, depository institutions (what we call a “Program Bank”). You’ll be able to access the funds in your Savings Account by transferring money to your Checking Account using the Chime Mobile App or online.
The list of Program Banks for both The Bancorp Bank, N.A. and Stride Bank, N.A. appears on a Program Bank list. The list and the amount of your savings account funds that were deposited at each Program Bank are always accessible through the Chime Mobile App or by contacting Chime Member Services at 844-244-6363.
Generally, you will not have direct relationships with Program Banks. Instead, all deposits to and withdrawals from the Program Banks will be made by The Bancorp Bank, N.A. or Stride Bank, N.A. on your behalf. If you would like to know how much of your funds is held at any particular Program Bank, you should check your Savings Account Statement or contact Chime Member Services, not the Program Banks.
