Whether you’re helplessly in love or hopelessly single, things always feel better when you’re with people you love. Check out 10 ways to celebrate Valentine's Day with the ones you love.

Valentine’s Day is here, and everyone has an opinion about it. It’s the best, worst, sweetest, sappiest, most depressing, and most romantic day of the year. We get it! It may not feel worth the hassle to solve such a complicated day but we have a couple ideas on how to make the best of this February 14th, no matter what.

Whether you’re helplessly in love or hopelessly single, things always feel better when you’re with people you love. So if you can, grab your partner and/or your best friend, and get ready to have a blast celebrating the day that’s all about looove!

Cocktails for two, please 🥂

Take an online mixology class, because it’s time to learn that beautifully made drinks aren’t just for special events! MasterClass has an excellent mixology course with Lynnette Marrero and Ryan Chetiyawardana, and if you’re looking for something less intense, Elixir To Go has a perfect online mixology class you can schedule with ease. What better way to spend a day than learning to make something new and delicious?

A decadent dinner 🍽️

Speaking of delicious, food is definitely the language of love, or, if you’re single, the language of self-love! Treat yourself to a gourmet home-cooked meal, because you know your own tastes the best. Whether you’re craving butter-based steak or miso-ginger marinated salmon, splurge on some high-quality ingredients, put some music on, and channel your inner Gordon Ramsey (without all the yelling…)

Netflix and chill. Seriously. 🎬

There’s nothing more classic for a lazy night in than a cozy movie marathon night, complete with PJs, buttery popcorn, and a glass (or three) of wine. Get some good old fashioned cuddling in while watching your favorite films, and if you’re single, make an event out of it and pick a movie featuring your celebrity crush! It’s basically like you’re on a date with Chris Evans, and no, we won’t judge.

Sharing (your hobbies) Is caring 🎮

No two people have exactly the same interests and hobbies, so what better way to bond with them than doing those hobbies together? Whether it’s a sport, board games, or even anime, take some time to share what you love with each other. If your favorite thing to do is read, pick out a book for each other and read them together. If they’re weirdly good at video games, pick a two player version and beat the hell out of each other — your avatars, that is. No matter what, it’s a guaranteed good time!

“Luxury” spa day 🛀

When’s the last time you lit some candles, used some aromatherapy oils, and took a long, hot bath for yourself or with a partner? Sometimes, when you can’t go to an actual spa, these little things can add up to the most luxurious DIY spa day ever. Indulge yourself! It’s your day to be a little bit selfish, so do that face mask, splurge on some nice bath scrubs, and relaaaaax.

Indoor picnic, in style 🧀

Remember when we were kids building blanket forts in the living room and bringing snacks to munch on? This is the adult version of that. Instead of cheetos, opt for cheese and wine, or maybe spend some time making a charcuterie board that would put the Food Network to shame. If you’re not a savory person, try making a dessert or fruit spread. The joy of this is just throwing down a blanket in your living room and living your best adult life — no crawling under a fort this time!

Map out a future vacation! ✈️

If you’re anything like me, you’ve also been fantasizing about future travel plans for the past year. Sit down with your partner/best friend, and actually make it happen! Plot out where you want to go, when this trip might happen, and the things you know you can’t leave the vacation without doing. Whether you’re looking for a month-long expedition across the world or a weekend getaway to the town next door, a vacation is a vacation, and it will give you something amazing to look forward to.

See you in Bali!

“Target Challenge” 🛍️

Fine, I got this idea off of TikTok, but it’s still super cute! The premise of this challenge is that each person in a pair gets a bunch of items for the other based on certain rules. These rules are flexible, but they usually go something like this:

  • Favorite drink
  • Favorite snack
  • Favorite color
  • Something that reminds you of them
  • Something that you think they need

You get the idea. You can do this with your partner, a best friend, or a family member, and it’s a fun way to see how well you know each other! Plus, if you can’t physically go to a Target, try shopping online instead. Make up your own rules, set a budget for each other, and film it for a great memory.

Sweat, together 💪

You probably didn’t want to hear this, but exercising with each other is a great way to bond! As the great Elle Woods once said, exercising gives you endorphins, and endorphins make you happy. So pull out that yoga mat (or two) and follow along with a workout routine — it’s a lot easier than it sounds. You’ll get fit and have fun at the same time, and in the end, the satisfaction of knocking that workout out of the park will have you feeling like you’re on cloud nine.

Share the love 💞

When all is said and done, this romantic day is about sharing and spreading love. No matter how you do it, find a way to tell your friends and family how much they mean to you! Writing a heartfelt letter, baking some chocolate cupcakes, or calling them with a quick video chat will leave you and them feeling appreciated and warm.

A homemade Valentine’s Day 💝

A little imagination, a lot of love, and a pinch of DIY creativity will give you ten ways to make this beautiful day not suck. As long as you make even the tiniest effort into changing your mindset, you might end up realizing that this day is actually pretty great. However you plan on celebrating February 14th, make sure you’re practicing self-love above it all.

Happy Valentine’s Day! 😘
