How to set up Chime direct deposit - 3 options
To set up direct deposit, you’ll need your routing number and account number handy. You can find this info in the Chime app under Move Money and then Set up direct deposit.
On this screen, you’ll see your account number and routing number. While you can set up direct deposit with your employer by copying your account and routing number and providing it to your employer, it may be easier to hand in a completed direct deposit authorization form or even find your employer in the Chime app.
Here are your 3 options for setting up direct deposit.
Option 1: Have Chime do it for you
If your employer or payroll provider is supported, you can also find them in the Chime app. At the bottom of Set up direct deposit, you’ll see that you can search among more than 20,000 employers, payroll providers, and unemployment agencies directly in the app. Just tap Find employer to begin your search.
Option 2: Use our employer portal
Chime makes it easy to set up direct deposit in the app, but you can also grab your account and routing numbers and sign up through your employer or payroll provider instead. Here’s how:
- Log directly into your payroll provider portal (like ADP, for example) to update your payment method.
- Enter your account information into the portal.
- Choose the amount of your paycheck you’d like to deposit and save your changes.
- Confirm with your Human Resources department, payroll provider, or manager that everything was set up correctly.
Note: You can follow the same steps if you’re depositing unemployment benefits. Just make sure you’re using your state’s government portal instead of your payroll provider.
Option 3: Do it yourself
To set up direct deposit via form, open your Chime app and go to Move money, then Set up direct deposit.
Tap Get completed form, and we’ll email you a completed direct deposit form as a PDF. On the form, you can designate whether you want your entire paycheck direct deposited into your account or if you want a specific amount or percentage deposited instead.
Just email this form to your manager or HR department, and they’ll take it from there.
Prefer to work on a computer? You can print or download the same form on chime.com. Just log in and click Move Money to access the form.

FAQs
What bank does Chime use for direct deposit?
Chime isn’t a bank, but your direct deposit is processed through our two FDIC-insured partner banks, The Bancorp Bank, N.A., and Stride Bank, N.A. Chime accepts direct deposits from most employers and payroll providers, making it easy to get paid directly into your account.
How do I get a Chime direct deposit form?
You can get a Chime direct deposit form in two ways:
- In the app: Just tap Move Money, then Set up direct deposit. On this screen, you’ll see your account number and routing number, but you’ll also see a Get completed form option. Tap this, and Chime will email you a completed direct deposit form (PDF) to give to your employer or direct deposit provider.
- Online: Head to chime.com, log in, and click Move Money. You’ll see an option to Print or Download a completed direct deposit form.
At what time does my Chime direct deposit hit?
Chime processes your direct deposits as soon as we receive them from your payroll provider. There isn’t a set time of day—your money becomes available as soon as it arrives. That means you can get your pay up to two days ahead of your scheduled payday1, if we receive the funds early enough. At the latest, you should have your pay on your scheduled payday, as long as Chime receives the direct deposit in time from your employer.
However, Chime only processes direct deposits Monday through Friday, in line with our banking partners and standard banking system timelines.. Chime also observes all federal and banking holidays; on these dates, Chime and our banking partners do not process direct deposits. See a full list of federal and banking holidays for this year.
Note: Although Chime’s partner banks observe weekends and holidays, we do offer around-the-clock customer service. Our live customer service agents are available to help 24/7, year-round.
How does Chime get my pay early?
When you set up direct deposit with Chime, your employer or benefits provider may send us your paycheck information electronically before your scheduled payday. As soon as our bank partners receive the incoming deposit file, we generally make those funds available in your account rather than waiting until the date listed on your paycheck.
With MyPay, your payday comes when you decide. As a Chime Plus member with a qualifying direct deposit, you can access up to $500 before payday.2 Most members start with a MyPay advance limit between $20 and $100 and may become eligible for higher limits over time based on account activity. Get your MyPay advance within 24 hours, or instantly for 3% of the advance amount ($2 minimum, $5 maximum per advance).
Can you see pending direct deposits on Chime?
Direct deposits do not appear as pending in your Chime account. That’s because Chime processes your direct deposit as soon as we receive it. This means you can get your pay up to two days sooner than your scheduled pay date.1
How do I know if my Chime direct deposit is set up?
Once you have shared your account information or a direct deposit form with your employer or payroll provider, they’ll coordinate direct deposits with Chime. The change should generally take effect within your next two payment cycles.
You’ll know your direct deposit is working when that first paycheck reaches your Chime account. And if the direct deposit is $3,000 or more in a month†, you’ll also be upgraded to Chime Prime – and get a notification in the app.
What is Chime Plus?
